यज्ञशिष्टाशिनः सन्तो मुच्यन्ते सर्वकिल्बिषैः । भुञ्जते ते त्वघं पापा ये पचन्त्यात्मकारणात् ॥ १३ ॥
yajña-śhiṣhṭāśhinaḥ santo muchyante sarva-kilbiṣhaiḥ bhuñjate te tvaghaṁ pāpā ye pachantyātma-kāraṇāt
Translation
The good who eat what remains after yajna are freed from all sins; but the sinful who cook only for themselves eat sin itself.

यज्ञ से बचे हुए अन्न को खाने वाले श्रेष्ठ पुरुष सब पापों से मुक्त हो जाते हैं; और जो पापी लोग केवल अपने लिए पकाते हैं, वे पाप ही खाते हैं।
Commentary
This verse is the basis of the widespread practice of offering food to God before eating (bhog, prasad). What is offered and then received becomes sacred; what is taken selfishly carries the weight of greed.
