नैनं छिन्दन्ति शस्त्राणि नैनं दहति पावकः । न चैनं क्लेदयन्त्यापो न शोषयति मारुतः ॥ २३ ॥
nainaṁ chhindanti śhastrāṇi nainaṁ dahati pāvakaḥ na chainaṁ kledayantyāpo na śhoṣhayati mārutaḥ
Translation
Weapons do not cut it, fire does not burn it, water does not wet it, and wind does not dry it.

इस आत्मा को शस्त्र नहीं काट सकते, अग्नि नहीं जला सकती, जल नहीं भिगो सकता और वायु नहीं सुखा सकती।
Commentary
One of the best-known verses of the Gita, often recited at funerals. Krishna names the four ways a physical thing can be destroyed — by weapons (earth/metal), fire, water and wind — and says none of them touches the self. For a warrior standing among weapons, it is a direct answer to his fear.
