Bhagavad Gita — Chapter 12, Verse 13

adveṣhṭā sarva-bhūtānāṁ maitraḥ karuṇa eva cha nirmamo nirahankāraḥ sama-duḥkha-sukhaḥ kṣhamī santuṣhṭaḥ satataṁ yogī yatātmā dṛiḍha-niśhchayaḥ mayy arpita-mano-buddhir yo mad-bhaktaḥ sa me priyaḥ

Translation

One who bears no ill will toward any being, who is friendly and compassionate, free from possessiveness and ego, equal in happiness and sorrow, and forgiving; ever content, steady in yoga, self-controlled and firm in resolve, with mind and intellect surrendered to Me — such a devotee is dear to Me.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

Commentary

This is the first of a longer list (running through verse 19) of the qualities Krishna singles out in a devotee he holds dear. Read together, the list describes not a set of ritual practices but a settled inner disposition — freedom from ill will, ego and possessiveness, evenness in the face of both fortune and misfortune — that devotion is meant to cultivate over time rather than assume from the outset.
