अहं सर्वस्य प्रभवो मत्तः सर्वं प्रवर्तते । इति मत्वा भजन्ते मां बुधा भावसमन्विताः ॥ ८ ॥
ahaṁ sarvasya prabhavo mattaḥ sarvaṁ pravartate iti matvā bhajante māṁ budhā bhāva-samanvitāḥ
Translation
I am the source of all; from me everything proceeds. Understanding this, the wise worship me with full feeling.
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
मैं वासुदेव ही संपूर्ण जगत की उत्पत्ति का कारण हूँ, और मुझसे ही सब जगत चेष्टा करता है — इस प्रकार समझकर श्रद्धा और भक्ति से युक्त बुद्धिमान भक्तजन मुझ परमेश्वर को ही निरंतर भजते हैं।
Commentary
Verses 8–11 are known, especially in the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, as the chatuḥ-ślokī — the "four verses" — and are often regarded as the essence of the whole Gita. This first one states the foundation: God is the source of all, and the wise, understanding this, worship him with bhāva — heartfelt emotion.
