येषामर्थे काङ्क्षितं नो राज्यं भोगाः सुखानि च । त इमेऽवस्थिता युद्धे प्राणांस्त्यक्त्वा धनानि च ॥ ३३ ॥
yeṣhām arthe kāṅkṣhitaṁ no rājyaṁ bhogāḥ sukhāni cha ta ime ’vasthitā yuddhe prāṇāṁs tyaktvā dhanāni cha
Translation
Those for whose sake we desired kingdom, enjoyment and pleasures are the very ones standing here in battle, having staked their lives and wealth.

Commentary
Arjun's reasoning is deeply human: a kingdom is worth having only if there are people to share it with. If the people you love are dead, what is victory for? The argument is sincere — and the Gita will not dismiss it, but will answer it from a much deeper understanding of life and death.
