History
The land and the vision
According to the university, the seed was sown when Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma (1926–1994) sensed the spiritual significance of this land during the Shraddhanjali Samaroh of 1990. The land was later acquired for an institution dedicated to the renaissance of Dev Sanskriti.
From Mahavidyalaya to Vishwavidyalaya
After the Bhoomi Poojan on 23 May 1999, construction began and Dev Sanskriti Mahavidyalaya came into being. It became Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya through an Act of the Uttarakhand State Legislature passed on 22 January 2002 and notified in the gazette on 11 April 2002. It is recognised by the UGC under Section 2(f) and is NAAC-accredited.
The university quotes its founder-patron, Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya, on its purpose: an education that moulds students into noble, selfless and compassionate human beings.
