त्रैविद्या मां सोमपाः पूतपापा यज्ञैरिष्ट्वा स्वर्गतिं प्रार्थयन्ते । ते पुण्यमासाद्य सुरेन्द्रलोक मश्नन्ति दिव्यान्दिवि देवभोगान् ॥ २० ॥
trai-vidyā māṁ soma-pāḥ pūta-pāpā yajñair iṣhṭvā svar-gatiṁ prārthayante te puṇyam āsādya surendra-lokam aśhnanti divyān divi deva-bhogān
Translation
Knowers of the three Vedas, drinkers of soma, purified of sin, worship me through sacrifices and pray for the way to heaven. Reaching the holy world of Indra, they enjoy the divine pleasures of the gods in heaven.
Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)
तीनों वेदों में विधान किए हुए सकाम कर्मों को करने वाले, सोमरस को पीने वाले, पाप-रहित पुरुष मुझको यज्ञों के द्वारा पूजकर स्वर्ग की प्राप्ति चाहते हैं; वे पुरुष अपने पुण्यों के फल रूप स्वर्गलोक को प्राप्त होकर स्वर्ग में दिव्य देवताओं के भोगों को भोगते हैं।
Commentary
Ritual worship aimed at heaven works — it does bring heavenly enjoyment. Krishna does not deny this; he simply points out its limits in the next verse.
