Bhagavad Gita — Chapter 17, Verse 16

Shraddhatraya Vibhaga Yoga

manaḥ-prasādaḥ saumyatvaṁ maunam ātma-vinigrahaḥ bhāva-sanśhuddhir ity etat tapo mānasam uchyate

Translation

Serenity of mind, gentleness, silence, self-control and purity of intention: this is called austerity of the mind.

Hindi Meaning (हिंदी अर्थ)

Commentary

The subtlest austerity is inner. Manah-prasada, a clear and cheerful mind, comes first. Mauna, silence, here means more than not talking: it is the quietening of inner chatter. Bhava-samshuddhi, purity of intention, is the root of all the others.
