तस्मान्नार्हा वयं हन्तुं धार्तराष्ट्रान्स्वबान्धवान् । स्वजनं हि कथं हत्वा सुखिनः स्याम माधव ॥ ३७ ॥
tasmān nārhā vayaṁ hantuṁ dhārtarāṣhṭrān sa-bāndhavān sva-janaṁ hi kathaṁ hatvā sukhinaḥ syāma mādhava
Translation
So it is not right for us to kill the sons of Dhritarashtra, our own relatives. How could we be happy, O Madhav, after killing our own people?

अतः अपने ही बांधव धृतराष्ट्र-पुत्रों को मारना हमारे लिए उचित नहीं। हे माधव! अपने ही स्वजनों को मारकर हम कैसे सुखी हो सकते हैं?
Commentary
Arjun's conclusion rests on happiness: we would not be happy afterwards. It is an honest argument, but it measures duty by its emotional reward. The rest of the Gita will teach Arjun to act from what is right, not from what will make him feel good or bad.
