History

The Ganganath Jha Research Institute

The Shri Ganganath Jha Research Institute at Allahabad (now Prayagraj) was taken over by the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan on 1 April 1971 as its constituent Vidyapeetha, named Shri Ganganath Jha Kendriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha. It later became the Ganganath Jha Campus of the deemed university and is now a campus of the Central Sanskrit University. It bears the name of Mahamahopadhyaya Dr. Ganganath Jha, the scholar of Mimamsa and Nyaya.

A research campus

Unlike most campuses, it is devoted entirely to research on the various branches of Sanskrit literature. Its academic staff guide registered Ph.D. scholars and carry out research projects of their own, individually and as teams. Its library and manuscripts section is open, as a reference library, to anyone interested in Sanskrit and ancient Indian culture, subject to capacity.
