History
Founded in 2002
The Government of India ordered a campus in Bhopal on 31 March 2002, soon after the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan became a multi-campus deemed university, though the plan dated back to 1991–92, when the Government of Madhya Pradesh gave 10 acres of land free of cost. Work began on 6 July 2002 in a room of the Barkatullah University guest house, teaching started on 2 August 2002 in a rented building in Arera Colony, and the campus was formally inaugurated on 16 September 2002. The foundation stone of its own building was laid on 27 February 2003.
Vatsaraja Bhavan
The new main building was named Vatsaraja Bhavan on Ram Navami, 24 March 2010, and all teaching moved there. It houses the Vararuchi Granthagara (central library), the Bhavabhuti Prekshagar auditorium, computer, Jyotish, language and psychology laboratories, and the Natyashastra Anusandhan Kendra, which stages Sanskrit plays and records Sanskrit songs and shlokas. The campus publishes two ISSN journals, Rashtri and Shastra Mimansa, and has hostels for 333 boys and 108 girls.
